2 Days Dikdik Safari
Ngutuni Game Sanctuary, Tsavo East, a manageable first safari from the Mombasa coast.
Wildlife and comfort, without the long drives.
The Dikdik Safari is built around Ngutuni, a 10,000-acre private game sanctuary bordered on three sides by Tsavo East National Park. It is a two-day introduction to the East African bush that suits those based on the Mombasa coast, families looking for a manageable first safari, or anyone who wants wildlife and comfort without the long drives of a multi-day circuit.
Ngutuni’s waterhole is one of its defining features. Elephants, lions, buffalo, and a range of antelope visit it day and night. The lodge is positioned to make the most of this: you can watch from the bar and restaurant deck during the day, and from your private balcony after dark under soft illumination.
The itinerary.
A sample two-day route. Pick-up times, lodge, and pace can all be adjusted to suit your group.
Mombasa to Ngutuni Game Sanctuary
Pick-up from South Coast hotels at 06:00, North Coast hotels at 06:30. Your driver-guide takes you to Ngutuni Game Sanctuary, a private wildlife reserve bordering Tsavo East National Park. On arrival, check in to the lodge and join a morning game drive through the sanctuary before lunch.
The afternoon is yours to spend at the lodge, watching the waterhole from the deck as animals come and go throughout the heat of the day. In the late afternoon, a second game drive takes you deeper into the reserve. The Sagala Hills form the backdrop to the lodge, and game viewing is consistent, elephants, lions, buffalo, and various antelope are regular visitors, with the Voi River circuit and Ngutuni Hill offering varied terrain.
