A lodge on stilts, above the salt lick.
The Saltlick Lodge is one of the most recognisable safari lodges in Kenya, built on stilts above a waterhole in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, 220 kilometres from Mombasa. The design is deliberate: animals come to the salt lick below, and the lodge is positioned to let you watch from above, at any hour of the day or night.
This two-day itinerary runs directly from the Mombasa coast to Taita Hills and back. It is a focused experience: the sanctuary, the lodge, and the wildlife that gathers at the waterhole. Clean, simple, and consistently rewarding.
The itinerary.
